Five Wells

Chambered Tomb

Five Wells, Chambered Tomb

Impressive does not describe this monument accurately enough. There are two stone-lined chambers in the centre, each big enough to step into. These massive upright slabs being surrounded by a substantial rubble mound now covered in vegetation. A must-see site in any season.

Five Wells is the highest megalithic chambered tomb in the Peak District and you can see a reconstruction of it in Buxton Museum.
