Beeley Moor Central

Ringcairn, Tumulus

Beeley Moor Central I & II, Ringcairn or Robbed Tumulus

A fairly easy site to spot after parking at the Hell Bank Plantation at point and proceeding north along the track that runs round the plantation.

Slightly oval in shape with no visible stones, Beeley Moor Central I is more reminiscent of a robbed barrow. It is approximately 18m x 15m in size. From here walk across the moor in a northwest direction for approximately 200m to Beeley Moor Central II.

A scattering of stones that make up the roughly 0.5m high rubble bank can be seen and it is, at least, slightly better defined than Central I.

Please note that during my research I found that the names for the Beeley Moor sites were inconsistent and so the naming convention I use here is of my own invention. These same sites may be listed under other names by other authors.
