Harland Edge

Ringcairn

Harland Edge, Ringcairn

Harland Edge itself is littered with cairns, two of which can be seen in very close proximity to this ringcairn. The ringcairn itself is quite unusual as there are still upright portal stones marking two distinct entrances, the largest upright being approximately 50cm high.

This atypical ringcairn also has some features of a chambered tomb in that the inner edge has several large uprights lining it. Situated in a fabulous location, which is part of Beeley Moor, facing southwest.

Easily found, but still quite an arduous trek to reach it. Sensible footwear, OS map and GPS are essential.
