Brown Edge Circle

Embanked Stone Circle

Brown Edge Circle, Embanked Stone Circle

I was delighted to have found this circle on my second attempt. The first had me looking on the wrong side of the summit. It isn’t very well preserved, but you can make out the basic structure of this site and it is worth visiting for the excellent views over towards Sheffield. I was also happy to see that the flimsy wooden cross has gone from the summit of the cairn as the Christian misappropriation of this site, with its obvious prehistoric connections, had made me uncomfortable on my first visit.
