Barbrook III

Embanked Stone Circle

Barbrook III, Embanked Stone Circle

A delightful circle of 21 stones. Tricky to spot, despite it being about 24m in diameter the tallest stone is only 30cm with little embankment, so the whole thing can easily disappear in the grass. Thankfully on the day I first visited it several recent visitors have flattened the grass in a circular path around the stones making the site easier to spot. Barbrook III is unlike any other; located in a grassy meadow, the lack of heather, bracken and bilberries make it a delight to discover and explore!
