Staden Henge

This site lies in a field behind Staden Industrial Estate on the outskirts of Buxton. There’s not much to see, except for the low banks of the circular earthwork with a square one adjoining it. The known settlement here in the Iron Age and Romano-British periods cast a shadow of doubt of the age of these structures, but there are many cases of structures being expropriated again and again, so maybe the origins are prehistoric, but its use extended long into subsequent eras.

Please note that Staden Henge is on privately owned land to which there is no public right of way. Please seek permission to access the site before viewing it.
