Abney Moor, Embanked Stone Circle

An easy enough site to find with excellent views towards Eyam Moor in the southeast. Because of its ruinous state, it is hard to imagine how this circle would have looked originally, although there is an 18th Century report of four orthostats and a possible earlier one of nine.

As soon as you crest the hill the Abney Moor circle, or remains thereof, will make themselves known to you. Only 2 upright stones remain, one to the approximate height of 1m and there are faint traces of an embankment, but only if you look very carefully from certain sides.
